Meet the Family: Rubinoff, Rosh Tsurim(Israel)

                   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone who has a copy of the Bamberger Family Book at home knows that the family spans throughout Israel and around the globe. Members of our family tree all contribute to society in vastly different yet impressive ways. Therefore we have begun a new project to learn who is behind the names that will appear in the new book. On this webpage we will be telling the story of the extended family. This includes you! To participate send a picture of your family with a short description of who you are and what you do to thebambergerfamily@gmail.com.

                                             The Rubinoff Family

Meet Nava and Yosef  (Eisenstock)Rubinoff(8.3.2.2.1.4). Nava, who grew up in Efrat, Israel is 28 years old and works as a medical technician doing eye exams called OCT and visual field test. Yosef Rubinoff is 31 and is currently a clerk at the electric company in Jerusalem. Like most Israelis Yosef served in the IDF. During his service while shooting in a מבצע He was hurt in his back and had to go through 4 surgeries since. Because of a complication during one of his surgeries Yosef cannot sit. One of the ways Yoef gets around is by using his Segway, if you see him driving by make sure to say hello. Together Nava and Yosef have two children: David Chaim(8.3.2.2.1.4.1) who is 4 years old and Elad Yaakov(8.3.2.2.1.4.2) who is one year old. They currently live in Kibbutz Rosh Tsurim in Gush Etzion, Israel.

A conversation in Bnei Brak

Meet Tzipporah Rossman(8.3.2.2.3.6) and Hedva Tirschwell(4.6.5.1.1.4) and read how they went from being complete strangers to being good friends only to find out that in fact they were… cousins!

Tzipporah Rossman is 19 years old and grew up in Monsey, NY. This coming summer she plans to Be”h make Aliyah. Hedva Tirschwell is 18 years old and grew up in Boca Raton, FL, recently her family moved to Teaneck. They are both currently studying in Israel for the year.

Hedva and Tzipporah grew up in different states in the USA; they had never met each other until 11th grade when both Tzipporah and Hedva decided to spend the summer learning at NCSY’s Michlelet summer program in Israel. Over the summer Tzipporah and Hedva became friendly. Do to the fact that Hedva and Tzipporah lived in separate states however (NY and Florida), it was difficult to keep in contact and after the summer and they stopped keeping in touch.

Two years later both Tzipporah and Hedva graduated from their respective high schools and both decided to spend the year leaning in a seminary in Israel known as Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim. The two now live in the same dormitory and have become good friends.

It was during one of the Shabbat meals when Tzipporah and Hedva found out that in fact they had shared a rich heritage. Here is how it happened according to Tzipporah.

“At one of the Shabbat meals Hedva and I were sitting across from each other. Everyone at the table was talking, and someone said something like “everything’s relatives,”.  I made a comment that in one of my classes I learned something that was quoted from my great great great great grandfather, the Wurzberger Rav. My friends didn’t know who he was and asked, so I said his name was Rav Yitzchak Dov Haleivi Bamberger. Hedva then shot up and said, “WAIT, I’m related to Bamberger’s”. So I responded, “Maybe were related, I have a book at home with all of his decedents”. Hedva then said “I also have a[The Bamberger Family] book”. One of the staff members who were sitting at the table and had heard what had happened, quieted the whole room, and said Tzipporah and Hedva have just discovered something that they would like to tell everyone!!!!! “

They then shared the connection with all those present and added:
“Those close to you are closer than you thought!!!”

On the left is Tzipporah Rossman, and on the right is Hedva Tirschwell. This Picture was taken at The Valley of Communities, located in Yad Vashem, where Tzipporah and Hedva found the community of there Great Great Great Great Grandfather, The Wurzberger Rav.

Looking for a computer programmer

As the work on the project continues I am looking for someone who knows how to program. The program I am looking to create would create a way for members of the family to look up their entries remotely from an excel file in order to verify their information is recorded correctly. This would tremendously help the next stages of the project and ensure the project is more accurate. Unfortunately I do not have funds available at this time to hire someone for pay however if anyone would like to volunteer their services please let me know. (Or if anyone would like to sponsor the writing of such a program you can let me know as well).

Great things ahead!

Its been a long time since you have gotten an update from the New Bamberger Family Tree Project.

Have no fear though, we're still here. The project is actively being worked on an there are great things in the works.

Stay tuned for exiting new developments in the coming months!

In the meantime would you like to introduce yourself to the rest of the family? If so send a picture of you and your family with a paragraph or two about yourselves, where you live and how you got there. Please include your number in the book! If you wish you may include contact information so that others can reach you.

The descendants of the Wurzberger Rav and his wife have spread and multiplied greatly. It is very like likely that several people you know are in fact your cousins and are reading this very message. Who are you related to? Your friend? Neighbor? Teacher? Many people have already shared their story's with me about how a person close to them turned out to be in the book. With this new section of the blog more of you will surely find those close to you are closer than you thought! If you have such a story and you want to share or if you want your family to be featured here send an e-mail to thebambergerfamily@gmail.com

And remember great things are in the works! Stay tuned!
